Speaking of which, do we need a new Scholarship Meister now? Someone step up, it’s a great program.

I think this Burnell character needs a time out. No music either. :caught:

Hey I just noticed the forum guidelines and read them. I totally borrowed the ones from the WFF forum and reworked them for the TBs…and now here they are. Looks good. 8)

I am in the process of researching this. What I have learned thus far is that once the Illabot Wild and Scenic River designation finishes working its way through Congress, there is a legal requirement to do a study within three years. The matter of this road will surely be part of that. I also have heard through my FS contacts that the District Ranger is in favor of closing the road at the washout, which would orphanize the Slide Lake trail. There will have to be the usual EA and scoping process, and the public will be able to participate in this process. I will update with more information as I learn it.

This a major recreation area with very limited access, we are going to want to keep this road.

Has anyone caught a purebred Bull in Wappie lately? It’s my understanding that there have not been any documented catches of them there since 1991.

The overreproducing lakes really need some help. According to the study, they are not in very good shape.

Here’s a link to current road conditions in North Cascades National Park:
                      http://www.nps.gov/noca/planyourvisit/road-conditions.htm

                      Here’s one for the MBSNF:
                      http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/mbs/conditions/road_conditions_report.shtml

                      And for the Okanogan/Wenatchee:
                      http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/oka/recreation/roads.shtml

Not a ton of detail, but fairly current as of this writing.

Hopefully we can populate this thread with both links to resources like these and boots on the ground reports. I think it was Josh last night at the Trail Blazers meeting who had current information on the status of the Tenas Creek road.

Details on the state of the Icicle Canyon road:
                          http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/wenatchee/news/2008/05/03/index.shtml

Looks like it’s going to take an EIS since they are going to have to move the road.

Any new road or trail construction on the south side of 90 does not surprise me. The MBS is looking at that as one of the areas needing some development.

5 piece 5 wt 9′ Rainshadow rod that Trail Blazer Pete Smith made for me, it’s got pretty light delicate action which makes it sublime for high lakes. It shares an Orvis Battenkill reel with a 5/6 w/f full floater line with my other rod, which is a 6 wt Sage Launch with much faster action.

My most commonly used flies on high lakes–mosquitoes, ants, and if I’m out in the raft, olive or black Hale Bopp.

I picked up a fly rod three summers ago and never game my spinning setup a second look after that.

A little o/t, but are these guys Yellowstone Cutts as well? From our trip last month to the White Clouds. One guy in Challis who owns a private hatchery guessed Yellowstone Cutt/RB hybrid based on description and location.
