        “My dad and I were fishing at Rampart Lakes and we coulden’t catch a thing. When I finally caught a fish, I was useing a white Rooster Tail. Any ideas on what lure to use?”

          That’s a tough one because it really depends on what the fish are feeding on that day. The Ramparts are fairly high lakes with cutthroat so my inclination would be to go with something that has some red. A red and white Daredevil or Kamlooper Jr would be good choices. Or a Krocodile or Kastmaster. Preferably brass. If the fish are rising I’d switch to a fly and bubble.

            I had good luck up there a month or so ago with a Hare’s Ear. Even though they were rising A LOT, I couldn’t get them to take a dry fly. Went just underneath and they went crazy. Unbelievable mosquitos made the trip less than pleasant, but the fishing was good.

                Here’s a picture of a Hares Ear. They naturally sink.
