Welcome to the Hi Laker forum. Good for your getting your kids involved in hiking fishing and other outdoor activities. I cherish fishing with my daughter more than I can explain and can promise you’ll never regret it.

I live in Woodinville (NE of Seattle) but hope to meet you someday perhaps at a meeting or on a lake.

Those are indeed great photos. I love the Pasayten and the one of the lake and golden larches is beautiful.
I thought I’d been over much of that area over the years but don’t recognize that lake. Which lake is it?

            Thanks for sharing

All I can figure is you must smell pretty tasty to attract that much attention. Good thing you woke when you did. That sounds like an evening I’d never forget.

                Hi Ryan

Welcome to the club and forum. I haven’t been to Valhalla in years and didn’t do well last trip. When was your last trip? What worked if you don’t mind my asking.

I look forward to meeting you in the not too distant future.

                Bob

The Pasayten Wilderness (North of Winthrop) is gorgoeus, has many lakes with nice fish.

Attached is a photo of Remmel Lake & Mtn.

Also not to be missed are the Enchantments out of Leavenworth. Unless you day hike you need a permit to camp (Rangers station).

Both areas are 6-7000’+ altitude and still deep in snow so you’re probably looking in Aug for snow free hiking. But well worth the effort and the wait. Of course theres always snow shoes.

Believe me there are many more vistas there tos see as well.

Be sure to share the photos when you get back.

You lucky dog! If I had five days to fish this month, I’d fish the basin lakes near Vantage and/or fish Chopaka in the Okanogan. Moving water- Yakima River if the flow was not too high.

Was your middle east tour with the military? If so, thank you for your service to our country.

I agree with Dave especially if your tour was in the service….thanks so much!

As for moving water the Yakima was flooded not too long ago and still looked amazingly high to me last weekend. Ancient Lakes and others in the area may be a good choice.

                    Enjoy your trip

Hopefully Steve Regis will chime in. He has been pretty successful catching Lake Trout in Washingon high lakes on fly gear. Not sure what he used though. I managed to catch one with a black and gold rooster tail spinner.

If Steve isn’t out fishing he may see this and help out.

I have switched to Firefox. Good recommendation.

Brian, the “jitter” problem I recently reported to you is now much improved; however, it is not gone completely. There is still some minor “jitters” when I edit below the initial edit box, but it no longer jumps to the top of the text with every keystroke :).

I have experienced this symptom with longer entries also.

These are not exactly what you are looking for but there are member stories on the HL website that talk about how folks were introduced to high mountain lakes and hiking / fishing in general. Login to the “Members Only” section and then under the “Club information” section click on roster. In the roster scroll the list and click on the face icons (which indicates a personal history story).
